Question by Kristi A: Car accident….how long after therapy do the lawyers try to settle the case?
I need my bills paid for in a hurry. My doctor is going to release me sometime this week. How long did it take you? Or how long do you think? Does my baby get pain and suffering since she was in the car too and the window busted in on her(but suffered no physical injuries) she did cry for 2 days straight after the fact.

Answer by DutchGirlinOregon I doubt your baby would get pain and suffering compensation, but otherwise: It depends on the case. Consult with your lawyer!
Question by fanmegaman: Lazy lawyer and car accident questions.?
Yeah I have been in a car accident 2 months ago and he hasn’t called me. First of all we were the victims of this accident. Some drunken idiot was going on the opposite of a one way street and we were running on a green light and we T boned him on his right side of his car. Well it turns out that he isn’t the owner of the car but borrowed it and he also tried to run away(prob. in jail). ok well we got a lawyer and he did get our case.So its been like 2 months now & also called but he could never talk to me only the lawyers helper(secretary?) and she is the only one talking to me. I don’t get enough help from her at all. I have been going to the chiropractor for therapy and that’s all I have been doing. I been wanting to go see some doctor and psychiatrist because ever since the accident I have been getting anxiety attacks and my knees are still hurting even though they didn’t find anything broken bones in me. I didn’t get any help just cause I don’t have medicaid medicare health insurance and need to pay from my pocket which I don’t have any! We didn’t even get a rental car from the other person car insurance. I have lost my job all because of the accident. I have no income whatsoever and haven’t got my mileage from going to therapy. It was 3 of us in the accident and we are still in pain but I don’t see the therapy helping at all. We lost our car and relying on the taxi and bus transit, its not the same I never even spoke once to my lawyer and he is too busy from what i heard. I am now thinking if this lawyer is only thinking about himself and not about us just waiting to get the money at the end of all of this that’s if we even get something. Sorry for too much detail.

Answer by Betsy You need to try to talk with the attorney again. It could be that the owner of the car has no insurance. If so, it will be hard for you to collect any money. Perhaps for that reason, the attorney may not want to represent you any longer.
You could also contact the agency that regulates attorneys in your state. If you don’t know who that is, you could ask a reference librarian at the public library to help you find the proper agency.

I think our clients get excellent outcomes and excellent settlements. So, when the insurance company deals with us, they know we know what our clients are entitled to. There are many elements of damages and we know what they are and we know how to get them. The key to a good settlement is if you can imagine squeezing all the juice out of an orange when you’re making a glass of orange juice, you don’t want to leave any of that juice in that orange and you don’t want to leave any of that money on the table. Question by djs_1088: Why would a personal injury attorney not hire a doctor when he says that is what you need to win your case?
It’s over with now-Attorney bowed out. The case, like most all personal injury cases like this, needs a Dr’s ovarall opionion of the injury. This was a serious, life changing knee surgery for my elder Mom.He stated halfway through,I’m hiring a Dr to look at all records and write a report if all damages was result of the fall.We knew it was but he’s the lawyer. He said without an orthopedic Dr.linking it all together, there would be no case.No Dr. was hired even when he said he was hiring one. This case is all about getting the last, but what should have been first, thing.A Dr’s opionion and report if he was willing.Insurance took liabiltiy but without a Dr to tie up one,and I mean only one thing, this very honest claim is being let go.My Mom can live with the loss of the money, but what about trusting and reliability of the Attorney.Too much other stuff to mention but thats the just strange to me.Any ideas about this would like to hear. Thanks

Answer by john s sometimes in england solicitors take on cases with the intention of losing. If say a deposit of 1000 gbp is paid for initial work then the lawyer/solicitor would be better off spending 4 hours then saying the case is no good rather than spending 20 hours and being paid 2000 gbp

Answer by Alania You might try a differant type of doctor, if physical therapy is not working. I work for a chiropractor and sometimes they can help depending on your injuries. It is important to find a good one, though. A lawyer is a good idea, if you have a lot of medical bills because insurance agents like to pay as little as possible, but lawyers will go after as much as they can get for your pain and suffering and medical bills.
I am not from your area, so I wouldn’t know who to refer you to. In my experiance, it usually takes anywhere from 3-6 months to recover, depending on your injuries. But no one usually is 100% of what they were before the accident.

The Intelligent Transport Intelligent Society report also calls for automated emergency response systems to be integrated into all new road vehicles within the next two years.
These systems automatically alert emergency services in case of an accident even if a driver is unconscious as well as providing the exact location of the accident using Global Positioning Systems.
Philippa Oldham, Head of Transport at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, said:
The alarming rise in cyclist deaths on British roads needs to be addressed urgently. Cyclist deaths have risen by 7% in the past year, with about eight cyclists being killed or seriously injured daily on British roads.
A number of these deaths could be prevented if technology to prevent driver blind spots were made mandatory for all large vehicles.
New intelligent transport technologies have the potential to save thousands of lives. Cyclists, pedestrians and other road users could all benefit but, just as with seatbelts thirty years ago, we need policymakers to work with the automotive industry to make them mandatory.
By putting the UK at the forefront of intelligent transport technology we can also build an industry that is set to redefine the car in the next few decades, tapping into a market that will be worth about
Reacting today to word of a possible treatment advance for victims of mesothelioma, the asbestos-cancer law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg said it hopes that medical findings presented last week in Geneva at the European Lung Cancer Conference will spur other investigators to look more deeply into whether intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) can markedly extend the life expectancy of those afflicted with the disease.
According to Weitz & Luxenberg, which has won billions of dollars in mesothelioma settlements and verdicts for its clients over the last quarter century, researchers from the Austin Health Radiation Oncology Center in Melbourne, Australia, announced at the conference that mesothelioma patients they treated with IMRT survived up to seven years.
Mesothelioma patients ordinarily live a matter of only months once symptoms develop, a year or two if treated with chemotherapy or surgery: the promise of IMRT appears to be such that it deserves further scientific study, the firm said.
Citing medical texts, Weitz & Luxenberg said that IMRT disrupts the growth of cancer cells by targeting and fatally damaging their chromosomal structure. IMRT is not a new treatment modality; whats new is this research, which challenges some of the assumptions about IMRTs effectiveness against mesothelioma, the firm said. Previously, it was thought that mesothelioma cells had little or no radiosensitivity. The more radiosensitivity possessed by a cancer cell, the easier it is for the radiation to disrupt the cells DNA and kill the tumor. The Australian findings appear to demonstrate that mesothelioma cells are sufficiently radiosensitive that they can be killed using IMRT.
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that affects the thin membranes lining organs in the chest (pleura) and abdomen (peritoneum), Weitz & Luxenberg said. Mesothelioma is closely linked with asbestos; the only known and scientifically established cause of malignant mesothelioma is from asbestos exposure.
Asbestos is a mineral that earlier in American history found wide application in consumer, industrial and military wares. Unfortunately, tiny fibers released into the air from those products can be breathed in; once inhaled, the fibers permanently lodge in the lungs, the firm said.
